What are the tours available?

We have several tours to ensure you see the most of Ponta Delgada.

HISTORIC:
Tour throughout the Ponta Delgada’s most emblematic spots.

GARDENS:
Tour through the most beautiful gardens of Ponta Delgada

BEACHES:
Relaxing tour along the Ponta Delgada coast.

What are the tours departing time?

We have tours everyday, on te following times:

Historic:
10:30 | 13:30

Gardens:
09:30 | 11:30 ( low season) |14:30

Beaches:*
11:30 (high season)

Historic with visit to a pineapple plantation:
15:30

Historic + Tasting of regional products:
Upon reservation

Note: Management may make some changes to schedules when necessary.
*Beach tour is only available during high season

Where is the starting point of the tours?

All tours ( except for reservations with different starting points) start and end at our kiosk located on Avenida Infante D. Henrique, next to Campo S. Francisco.

Where can I buy tickets?

You may buy in advance on our website or buy at our kiosk minutes before the tour starts.

Office hours:
Every day between 09:00 and 17:00

What do I need to take with me?

Headphones and a smartphone to use our audioguide.

We also have headphones for sale and small tablets (free rental) for those without a smartphone.

And of course, a camera if you want to make memories of your trip.

What is the cost of a ticket? Is there any discount?

Our tour costs 8€, except the one that allows the visit to the pineapple plantation which costs 9 €.
The tour price that includes the tasting menu is on request.
For groups with 10 persons or more, we have more attractive prices. We also offer a discount for children, seniors and those who ride more than one tour.
Note: For children under 2 years old is free.

How long is the tour?

On average, the tours take about 50 m, except for those that include a visit to the pineapple plantation or tasting of regional products. Those may take 1h30m.

Can I Hop on, hop off of the train?

Unfortunately no. Apart from the tour that includes the visit to the pineapple plantation or a tasting of regional products, stops are not allowed. Only one – at our kiosk.

Do I have to book in advance?

No reservations are required but is subject to availability.

Is there any additional information on tours?

We currently have a recording in PT and EN that explains the main spots where the tours pass by.

May I take photos during the tour?

Yes, you may. We would also like to see, so please identify our pages.

Is your train covered or convertible?

Currently, We have 2 trains, one Covered and one Covertible.

Can I bring something to eat or drink during the tour?

Yes. If you prefer you may also buy a snack in our kiosk.

Is the train ready for people with motor limitations?

Our train has no ramps or seat belts. However, during the tours there is no limitation as the visitor is always seated.
Pushchairs are also allowed on the train or if you prefer you may leave at our kiosk.

What is the maximum capacity of your train?

Covertible train: 30 adults
Covered train: 45 adults
Note: When booking is children only, the capacity may varies.

In which areas of S.Miguel do you accept reservations?

We currently accept reservations across the island as long as the train can make the route.
Due to the size of the train, the management only confirms the reservation after testing the intended route to ensure that it is doable.

Is it possible to decorate the train?

Yes. As long as it does not damage it.

If I want to book the train for an event how can I pay?

For both customized events, it is necessary to make a initial 20% deposit in to ensure the reservation is confirmed.
This deposit is not refundable.

What if I can't make the reservation on booked date?

You should notify us as early as possible and, if you wish, we may schedule another day. If this is not possible, a refund of 80% of the total reservation amount will be refunded.

Limousine

What is the limousine capacity?

The limousine can carry 8 people plus the driver.

What is the minimum duration time that can I book?

The minimum time Limousine can be booked is 1 hour. This time should include the driver’s journey and return, the intended route and waiting times.

What is included when I make a reservation?

Champagne and waters to make sure you have the most of this experience.

Do you have a photographer service?

yes, but given that it is made by a partner it is limited to its availability and under this amount is not covered by any discount that may be applied to the booking amount.

Does Lagarta have take-and-go packages ?

We are currently preparing a variety of experiences to make the most of our limousine. Ex: Romantic Night . Ask us more.
